2018 Archery Deer Hunt Registration

Thank you for your interest in the 2018 City of Redwood Falls Deer Control Program. With the assistance of the local Department of Natural Resources (DNR) office, the City of Redwood Falls has developed a controlled archery hunt to be conducted in designated areas.  A general description of the 2018 program follows:

·         Hunting will be by Special Permit only with a total of 20 hunters permitted.

·         The program will be conducted between September 15 through December 3, 2018.

·         It is required the portable tree stands be supplied by the hunter. The specific hunting sites determined by the City will be assigned. The hunting area is situated in the northern sections of the City of Redwood Falls including and not limited to sites: (1) Alexander Ramsey Park; (2) near the City Compost Pile and water treatment ponds; and (3) on private property.

·         Participants must purchase a Regular Archery License. The City of Redwood Falls hunt is under a Special Deer Hunt “Double Earn a Buck” regulation.  Up to three deer may be harvested, but two antlerless deer must be legally retrieved, tagged with a bonus tag, and secured before taking a buck, with a State tag. Once 40 deer total have been harvested, the City Hunt will end.

See the 2018 Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations

All Minnesota hunting regulations will be enforced. The City of Redwood Falls and the DNR will also provide hunters with a list of program regulations that will be in effect.

If you are interested in this Special Permit hunting opportunity, and are at least 18 years of age, you must attend a hunter archery skills proficiency test session that the City will be conducting on the dates below. You are required to submit the registration below, along with a $15 administrative fee prior to August 13, 2018.  No walk-ins will be accepted.  Permits will be offered to eligible hunters based on a proficiency test score ranking.  The 20 successful permit holders will be required to pay a $40 fee to participate in the hunt and take up to three deer.  Payment must be received before to stand site assignment.

Please provide the information request below and indicate which screening session you are interested in attending. Return the completed form and $15 fee (checks payable to the City of Redwood Falls) to the address below no later than August 13, 2018. Any forms postmarked after August 13, 2018, will not be accepted. Since the City is expecting a large number of applicants, plan on attending the session which you indicated below.  You do not need an archery license to take the proficiency test.  You will need your bow and at least five (5) arrows with field points – no broad heads. You must qualify with the bow/accessories that you are going to hunt with. The screening session will be held at the Redwood Falls Sportsman’s Club Archery Range located at 34813 Laser Avenue, Redwood Falls, Minnesota.
