Advertisement for Bids


Sealed bids will be received by the City Administrator’s Office of the City of Redwood Falls Public Utilities, (RFPU) at City Hall at 333 South Washington Street, Redwood Falls, MN, 56283, until 2:00 P.M. on the 27th day of February 2018, for Inspection Repair and Testing of Both the Rotor and Stator of the Hydro Turbine Generator, at which time the bids shall be publicly opened.

The general nature of the work on which bids will be received consists of supervising the removal and loading onto truck, transporting to repair facility, perform receiving inspection and electrical testing along with providing “as received” documentation; dis-assemble the generator, clean, wash, all prep for re-assembly; mechanically inspect and mic the shaft, bearing; electrical test the rotor and all necessary items to rewind the rotor; electrical test stator and all necessary work to rewind stator; preform final electrical testing; re-assemble, test run, monitor bearing temperatures and perform vibration analysis; final paint, prep for ship and transport back to Redwood Falls power plant and oversee unloading and return to the building; and provide City with all documentation and test results for the work performed on the unit.

The above work shall be in accordance with the specifications and proposed form of contract now on file in the office of the Municipal Electric Utility in said City of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, by this reference made a part hereof, as though fully set out and incorporated herein.

All bids shall be made on proposal forms furnished, and accompanied by bid security in the form of a certified check or bid bond, made payable to City of Redwood Falls, Minnesota, in the amount of five percent (5%) of the bid, which security becomes the property of RFPU in the event the successful bidder fails to enter into a contract and post satisfactory Performance and Payment Bonds within fifteen (15) days after the award of contract.

Payment to the Contractor will be made on the basis of ninety percent (95%) upon certification of work completed; five percent (5%) within thirty-one (31) days after final completion and acceptance.  The project shall being upon a Notice to Proceed issuance. 

RFPU reserves the right to defer acceptance of any proposal for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after the date proposals are received, and no proposal may be withdrawn during this period.  RFPU also reserves the right to reject any or all bids and enter into such contract as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the Municipal Electric Utility.
