PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT – AUGUST 20, 2018

THE REDWOOD FALLS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WILL BE CHIP SEALING STREETS AND BITUMINOUS ALLEYS EAST OF THE REDWOOD RIVER BRIDGE, NORTH OF BRIDGE STREET (TH 19/US 71) AND WEST OF COUNTY HIGHWAY 101. THIS PROCESS IS WEATHER DEPENDENT AND RAIN EVENTS WILL AFFECT SCHEDULING.

Chip sealing will begin today, Tuesday August 21, 2018.

  • Monday, August 20, 2018, no parking signs were deployed on streets North of Trunk Highway (TH) 19/71(Bridge St) and West of County Highway 101 for cars to be clear by 6:00 a.m. Tuesday August 21, 2018.
  • The focus for Tuesday August 21, 2018 will be East/West streets from Walnut Street South to Bridge Street and North/South Streets from North Lincoln to North Swain.
  • The large focus area for Wednesday will be streets East of North Swain and West of County Highway 101.
  • Other areas included in this year’s seal coat are: Cedar Point, Crestview Drive, Old North Road, Peabody Road, Oak Street to the Swayback Bridge, Ramsey Park Campground, River-link Bike Trail, Johnson Park Trails, Legion Park Paths and the cul-de-sac at the Zoo.
  • Municipal parking lots at the ELCA Synod Building and the large parking lot in Ramsey Park by the lower shelter are included in this year’s chip sealing and will be closed periodically.
  • All current seal coated/bituminous alleys in the project area will be seal coated after the streets are finished.

The granite chips will be allowed to bind in place 1-2 days followed by sweeping. Schedule changes due to weather delays will be relayed through constant contact messaging, KLGR radio and the City Website www.ci.redwood-falls.mn.us.

No parking signs will be posted a minimum of a day in advance for each street that is to be seal coated. Barricades will be placed screening the immediate work area and will move from street to street. One lane of traffic will be maintained in the work area.

Again, residential streets will be signed the evening prior to the seal coat application and motor vehicles must be moved to an off street location between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or risk being towed. Once the seal coat process is finished, the street will be open to traffic.

The City of Redwood Falls asks for your patience through the process.
