This project will construct approximately 1.4 miles of a new contiguous trail loop. The project utilizes Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) Safe Routes to School (SRT) Grant Dollars for the first 0.7 miles of bituminous, multi-use trail and a box culvert to carry the trail over County Ditch 52 connecting St. John Lutheran School and Redwood Valley High School. An additional 0.7 miles will be connected utilizing MnDOT Active Transportation (AT) Grant to connect CentraCare-Redwood Hospital and future residential developments to the SRT trail portion, the existing City trail, and sidewalk network to complete the loop.
This project will also include constructing new turn lanes and bypass lanes on County State Aid Highway (CSAH) 24, utilizing MnDOT’s Local Road Improvement Project (LRIP) grant funding. The project will establish new turn lanes into St John’s Lutheran School, the new Reflection Ridge, and Reflection Prairie residential and commercial developments, enhancing transportation safety on CSAH 24.
The trail and turn lane projects are 97% funded through grants and donations. Private trail donation contributors include the Centra Care Foundation, Orrin S Estebo Foundation, Redwood Area School District #2897, and St. John’s Lutheran School.
