PRESS RELEASE - AUGUST 21, 2026
THE REDWOOD FALLS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT WILL BE CHIP SEALING STREETS AND BITUMINOUS ALLEYS FROM GOULD STREET WEST TO MINNESOTA STREET, AND FROM TRUNK HIGHWAY 19/71 SOUTH TO WYOMING STREET. ALSO INCLUDES THE THIRD STREET MUNICIPAL LOT, M&L PARKING LOT, AND STREETS AROUND THE REDWOOD VALLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. THIS PROCESS IS WEATHER-DEPENDENT, AND RAIN EVENTS WILL AFFECT SCHEDULING.
Sweeping and Chip Sealing will start on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.
- Monday, August 24th, no parking signs deployed along boulevards.
- Tuesday, August 25th/Wednesday, August 26th, Sweeping and Chip Sealing will begin. All paved streets, alleys, trails, and parking lots will be sealed in the described area and crews will move from street to street in rapid succession.
- Chip sealing is weather-dependent and will be delayed due to rain.
- Do not water lawns that will cause the streets and alleys to get wet. The coating will not stick to wet pavement. Once the street has been coated, chipped, and rolled, watering can be resumed.
- Move flexible sump pump hoses away from the street and discharge to the lawn. Once the street has been coated, chipped, and rolled, sump pump hoses can be returned to the street.
The granite chips will be allowed to bind in place 2-5 days followed by sweeping. Scheduled changes due to weather delays will be relayed through email, Facebook, and the City Website ci.redwood-falls.mn.us.(opens in new tab)
All vehicles, dumpsters, trailers, and campers must be off the described residential streets and alleys and must be removed to an off-street location between the hours of 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. or risk being towed. Once the chip-sealing process is finished, the street will be open to traffic.
The City of Redwood Falls asks for your patience through the process.
