The City of Redwood Falls Planning & Zoning Department is responsible for the administration of land use regulations and policies to ensure sound land use and orderly development throughout the City in accordance with City Zoning and City Subdivision Ordinances. These ordinances regulate the types of uses which can occur in each zoning district as well as the specific development standards for each zoning district, which control such details as height, size and use of buildings, and lot sizes. Zoning district designations and boundaries are depicted on the city zoning map.
In addition to working with residents, local businesses, and potential developers, the Planning & Zoning Department reviews and processes individual applications for new development, redevelopment, land subdivision and variances. The Zoning Administrator reviews these applications and prepares reports and makes recommendations to the Planning Commission, and City Council regarding land development in the City. These recommendations and requests are reviewed by the Planning Commission and acted on by the City Council after a public hearing.
Information regarding zoning regulations may be obtained by contacting the Planning & Zoning Department at 507-616-7400 or by visiting the City of Redwood Falls online City Code.
